Scripture:  Acts 1:12-14

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. 13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Here we see the apostles obey command to wait for his promise in Jerusalem. It is said that they journeyed a Sabbath day’s journey. “The rabbinic tradition set this at 2,000 cubits, i.e., about three-fourths of a mile”. We see them coming all together to join in prayer as they joined together in the upper room. As they waited upon the promise of the Holy Spirit it said they were all like minded and praying together as they waited.

Lord, help me to wait upon you in faithfulness and be in fellowship with my brethen and be like minded with them. We might have differences in beliefs and tastes but we all share Christ in common. That he redeemed us from death and raised us to new life as we became new creatures in the acceptance of your gospel that Jesus died for our sins and was raised to life and is seated at the right of the father and has giving us the promise of the Holy Spirit.

Help me wait upon you for your promises in active faith by having persistance in prayer. Let me submit to your timing and not my own.
