Matthew 13:31–32

31 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, 32 which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Jesus here is telling another parable about his kingdom. A kingdom that the people of his time didn’t understand. They thought he would a king who came in military might and not a suffering servant. It’s interesting to contrast how in the Matthew recording of the mustard seed he compares it to His kingdom whereas in Matthew 17:20 he says if we have faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed we can remove mountains and NOTHING will be impossible for you.

What the world see’s as insignificant or small God see’s the as precious and plantful. The kingdom of God lives inside us. The temple of the Holy Spirit is in us. As we grow in his likeness from a small mustard seed faith to a vast forest of redeeming fire, we too can do what the world see’s as impossible because nothing is impossible with the Spirit of God living inside of us. So as we grow in sanctification and Holiness let God trim off those unwanted branches of pride, self sufficiency, and bitterness so I can blossom into what he wants me to be. Let the potter form his clay.

Lord Father, thank you for giving me faith in you. Even that is a gift. I pray that you continue to anoint me with power to preach your good news. Allow me to have a teachable Spirit that is humble. Increase my faith in you and continue to remind me that nothing is impossible with you living inside of me. That you can move mountains, provide healing, raise the dead, and speak words of life to dead things through me by the power of your living Spirit. I pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
