Romans 1:1 (KJV)

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

This is the introduction part of an epistle(letter) to a church in Rome. Paul is writing it and declares first that “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ”. We can learn a lot from the first strokes of the penned words found written on this epistle. Paul, the great missionary could of been puffed in pride and introduced himself different saying something like “It is I, your great apostle in whom you shall serve, when I come to you, I expect a great feast spread on my table” No, he approaches it much differently. He calls himself a servant of Christ. In this instance of the word he is saying he is a slave of Christ that he is bond to do whatever his master calls him to do. Now, there is a negative aroma that surrounds being a slave because of being trapped and forced into a life. This is different, this denotes a willing entrance into slavery where we always have the choice of leaving the masters courts but, once you do you leave his protection. God gives us free will and a choice to obey or disobey. As we serve and become a slave of his, ironically enough we become free from the chains that bond us. We no loner are a servant of sin, of Satan, of man, or of our own destructive desires. True freedom is found in our Liberator Jesus, Christ. You shall know the truth, and it shall set you free. You shall be free indeed!

We have two choices. Serve Christ or serve the world. We have to make the choice and if we make the wrong one then we might just miss out on the calling God has for u.
