Hebrews 6:13-15-13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

The promise God made to Abraham was his continued covenant with him. This was because of Abraham’s obedience to Him. This was God’s oath unchanging. In the context of it, the writer is speaking to the audience and encouraging them to be faithful. They were facing persecutions and trials of many kinds and he gives them a warning and a encouragement not to fall away from the faith.

We need to cling to our Saviour, to hold fast, and not give up hope. During tough times and trials we need to hang onto the anchor of our souls, the author of our faith. There is a promise for us, but, only if we endure to the end. God never lets go of us, but, we can let go of him. If we do, there are eternal consequences for doing so. On the other side, if we hang on and not to look to our side in which we will be distracted, not look to our inside in which we will only be discouraged, but, look to our upside and keep our eyes on Jesus so we may endure to end and obtain the promise.

PRAYER: Lord, help me not look at the near and now, but, give me a futuristic vision to hold on and endure through the trials of this life. Knowing too, that there is a promise for me to obtain if I endure to the end. I look forward to your coming. Come Lord, Jesus come!
